Building 31 work progress shows the sixth and seventh stories of A wing and the second story of B wing constructed. Building T-6 can also be seen in one of these photographs. Building 31 was constructed to provide office space for institute directors and their immediate staff. NIH Building T-6 provided office space for Surgeon General Parran and his staff during WWII and subsequently provided space for NCI, NIMH, NIAID, NIAMD, NINDB, and the Division of Research Grants staffs. It was demolished in 1961-62 to provide parking space for Building 31.
