Title Flagging for ticks in Bitterroot Valley, Montana
Caption Fieldwork with ticks in Montana
Description Laboratory technician flagging for ticks in the Bitterroot Valley, Montana. He is wearing a white jump suit over his regular clothes and his pant legs are tucked into the top of his high, laced boots. He is holding a pole to which is attached a large, white piece of flannel that is being dragged across the vegetation. Flannel flags were dragged across tick infested brush vegetation in order to obtain ticks for entomological studies and Rocky Mountain spotted fever vaccine production.
