Description Laboratory technician at the Rocky Mountain Laboratory decanting the Spencer-Parker Rocky Mountain spotted fever vaccine. The technician is wearing a lab coat and a rubber apron and is siphoning the vaccine solution from a large glass container into small glass vials. The vaccine is under a protective hood, but the techncian is not wearing gloves. The Spencer-Parker vaccine was created by Dr. Roscoe Spencer and Dr. Ralph Parker in 1924. The vaccine was made from ground up ticks and thousands of laboratory animals were required to prepare it.
