Provenance The American Heart Association gave a 30th anniversary banquet for the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute on February 8, 1978. At the banquet, both organizations gave out awards. The program includes the menu; program; list of awards and recipients (NHLBI Distinguished Service Award to Mrs. Albert D. (Mary) Lasker and the American Heart Association Meritorious Service Awards to Jacob K. Javits and Claude Pepper); and the last page shows honored guests.

Note that women are listed by their husband's first name instead of their own, even the powerful Mary Lasker, who established the Lasker Award, and Dr. Nina Starr Braunwald, who was the first woman thoracic surgeon who worked at NIH.
