Provenance This virus is also known as B virus, herpes B, monkey B virus, etc. It's found in macaque monkeys (including rhesus) which usually have no or few symptoms. An infection in a human, however, could result in severe brain damage or death if not treated as soon as possible. Usually caused by bites, scratches, or contact with body fluids. Macaques are often used in medical research.
